Chef's Notes
Mushrooms are nutritious, and when using a good cooking method, they are simple to prepare! One of the best tips I can give you is do not crowd mushrooms in the pan. Browned mushrooms will give an irresistible aroma to your rice, so you want to caramelize and brown your mushrooms instead of steam them, right?!
As for brown rice, it is an excellent source of dietary fiber and magnesium, which can lower the risk factors for heart disease and stroke.
Cook brown rice according to the package directions or use 1¾ cups of water for every 1 cup of brown rice and cook it for about 45 minutes.
