Hello beautiful Corfu!
Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to think about your next summer break. Here’s my impression of Corfu, the second largest of the Ionian Islands, Greece.
Way back in 2010, when I was on Corfu, I was so fascinated with beauty and authenticity, so that I decided: I will be back one day! Luckily, as it usually happens, the greatest dreams must come true – I soon found myself packing my bags for Corfu Island. This time, my choice fell on Agios Georgios (St. George), a small town on Corfu’s southwest coast. The first greatest impression is 6-kilometre sandy beach here!
With a lot of taverns, cafés and bars, Agios Georgios is loaded with original Greek charm. The summer resort is about 45 minutes from the airport and the capital, Corfu Town (Kérkyra). I recommend visiting this park, the Spianada square, as well as The Serbian Museum of Corfu (Srpska kuca) which is located in the immediate vicinity.
Do not miss the Island of Vido. This is the small island which is located approximately a mile off the north-eastern part of Corfu town (it's 10 minute boat trip). I recommend visiting Serbian Mausoleum on the island of Vido. There are some interesting facts about this small Ionian island.
Sometimes, nature's beauty just takes my breath away. We have really enjoyed boat trip around Ionian Islands, Paxos and Antipaxos. Ypu can experience blue canves, enjoy swimming on wonderful wild beaches, and seize the opportunity to visit the Gaios, capital of Paxos. I warmly recommend 💖
We enjoyed the panoramic view from the veranda of Golden fox swimming pool which overlooks the bays of Paleokastritsa. Paleokastritsa is the most famous village of the island of Corfu, which has six breathtaking beaches.
Here is a boat trip from Corfu to the Blue Lagoon. We have enjoyed swimming in water of beautiful Blue Lagoon. The crew prepared great BBQ lunch for us; meat, tzaziki, salads, and a plenty of traditional wine. Yummy!
During this boat trip, we experienced some impressive caves there, and stopped at Bella Vraka beach. This magnificent beach is divided into two parts. There are many different things to do. You can rent sail boats, paddle boards, kayaks, and other equipment for water sports. You shouldn't miss this one. Natural beauty of shimmering turquoise Ionian Sea and memorable experience!
Sivota is a magnificent seaside village in the northern Ionian Sea. It is approximately 25 km south of Igoumenitsa, opposite Corfu. Its rare beauty, impressive beaches and authentic Greek charm do not leave anyone indifferent.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to visit a few places we are wanted to see. Ten days is a pretty short period of time, right?! Luckily, we have our whole life ahead of us.
Do not miss:
Church of Saint Spyridon
Aqualand
Achilleion museum
Glyfada beach
Canal d’Amour near Sidari beach
Have a Wonderful Holiday!
